He told lawmakers that although he has "no proof" of where or who the nail came from, he believes it happened at work.

British startup carrier Global Airlines said on Friday that it had fully acquired an Airbus A380 jet previously owned by China Southern Airlines. MSN 120, however, is not the same plane that Global said it acquired back in May 2023. Following the purchase of MSN 120, Global expects to acquire three more A380s and hopefully launch commercial flights "later this year," it said. "The renaissance of the A380 is really the focus of Global Airlines," HiFly CCO Richard Stephenson said in a December video posted by Global. Simple Flying reported Global would refurbish MSN 120 but keep its China Southern seats.

But it was surpassed on day one of the Paris show by Indian rival IndiGo's (INGL.NS) order for 500 Airbus narrowbody jets. Air India said it was worth $70 billion at list prices, though airlines typically get discounts on big orders worth at least half the headline price, analysts say. The Airbus part comprises 210 A320neo and A321neo narrowbody jets and 40 A350 widebodies. "Our ambitious fleet renewal and expansion programme will see Air India operate the most advanced and fuel-efficient aircraft across our route network within five years," Air India Chief Executive Campbell Wilson said in a statement. The mega-order will also put Air India on a stronger footing to compete with budget rival IndiGo, which has a majority share of the Indian market and a strong position in regional flights.

Ali's comments came after sources said the airline was close to a deal to buy 10 Airbus A350 widebody planes, marking its first order with the French planemaker. ISTANBUL, June 4 (Reuters) - Airbus (AIR.PA) is closing towards a potentially record deal to sell 500 narrow-body A320-family jets to India's largest carrier IndiGo (INGL.NS), industry sources said on Sunday. Airbus and Boeing (BA.N) are also still competing in separate talks to sell 25 A330neo or Boeing 787 wide-body jets to the same airline, the industry sources said. IndiGo is already one of Airbus's largest customers and has so far ordered a total of 830 Airbus A320-family jets of which nearly 500 are still to be delivered. IndiGo aims to double its capacity by the end of the decade and expand its network, especially in international markets. The airline has a codeshare partnership with seven carriers including Turkish Airlines, American Airlines and KLM.

Bank of America has added global aerospace giant Airbus to its "top 10 best ideas" list for the second quarter of 2023, describing it as a "structural winner." On that basis, BofA analysts expect shares of Airbus to rise by 60% to 200 euros per share ($217) over the next 12 months. Earlier this month, Guillaume Faury, Airbus' CEO, said that global supply chains had proved challenging in 2022 and held back the company's plans for growth. BENGALURU, India, Feb 13 (Reuters) - Boeing Co (BA.N) plans to invest about $24 million in India to set up a logistics centre for airplane parts, Salil Gupte, president of the local unit told Reuters on Monday, boosting its footprint in the country amid a large plane order. Boeing's share includes 220 planes split as 190 737 MAX narrowbody jets, 20 787 widebodies, and 10 777Xs. Boeing forecasts India's carriers will need 2,200 new planes over the next 20 years, and with narrowbody planes making up the bulk Gupte expects that to be a focus area for Boeing. "As the middle-class grows and as India leads the world economic growth, you will see more and more people fly. That means we need to ensure our customers have the narrowbody aircraft they need to serve this market," he said.

BENGALURU/PARIS, Feb 10 (Reuters) - French planemaker Airbus (AIR.PA) on Friday signed an agreement with Air India for 250 jets, as part of the Indian carrier's jumbo deal under its new owners, Tata Group, industry sources told Reuters. This is part of a potentially record order for close to 500 jets split equally between Airbus and rival planemaker Boeing (BA.N), which was first reported by Reuters in December. Air India did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment outside of regular business hours. While the Airbus figure is slightly lower than the 275 originally envisaged, sources did not rule out a provision by Air India for top-up acquisitions or leases at a later point. Air India also wants to win a bigger share of regional international traffic and the domestic market, setting up a battle on both fronts with IndiGo.

Airbus has changed the copper foil used on its A350 aircraft, which protects from lightning strikes. In 2021, Qatar Airways sued Airbus over chipped paint that exposes the copper mesh, citing a safety risk. According to Airbus, the company started "progressively" using PCF on A350 aircraft "fuselage section by fuselage section," starting with deliveries in late 2022. The change is significant considering Airbus' ongoing battle with Qatar Airways over the old copper foil — a dispute worth $2 billion, per Reuters.
